This blog is about our life. I also want to raise awareness about achondroplasia and share our experience. Our baby girl Anaïs was born with achondroplasia.

Sam's first science project!
Today, Sam's school organized a science fair. Each student had to do a science project and display it for the whole school. Sam's project was about magnetism. Here she is right before school showing off her science project. Jeff came up with the idea of putting up pictures of Sam on the board, it turn out really cute!
It was a lot of fun for all the kids to look at each other's projects. We don't really do science projects in France so this was extra fun for me! I am so glad that Sam gets to do all these fun things, I can't say enough good things about her school, I LOVE it.
Oh, by the way, the boy on this picture is Kannon. Sam says that one day she will marry him. LOL
After the science fair, the school had a pizza lunch for all the kids and parents.
Great job Sam! This looks awesome! I remember doing projects in school and they were always fun! Love the pictures and photo comments on the board as well! *CUTE*
What great pics! I am so proud of Sam! She looked so adorbale in those science goggles. Push her towards medicine! Hee hee. She is just a natural little model. I love that she has already picked her husband, like Destini said, he will be a very lucky man!
So cute! I just love what a ham that Sam is for the camera - love the science goggles photo! Great idea for the photos of Sam on her project board! Too cute that she has already picked her husband - he's a lucky guy!
I am originally from France and have been living in the US since 1999. My husband Jeff is american and speaks fluent french so we are a bilingual family. We have 2 beautiful daughters Samantha born on 5/27/04 and Anaïs (pronounced Ana-eese) born on 6/6/08. Anaïs was born with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism.
If this is your first time reading our blog, read about how our journey with achondroplasia all started by reading Anaïs' story.
What is achondroplasia?
Achondroplasia is the most common form of short-limb dwarfism. It occurs in approximately 1 in 26,000 to 1 in 40,000 births. The characteristic features of achondroplasia are apparent at birth. These include typical facial features, disproportionate short stature, and rhizomelic (the proximal ends of the limbs) shortening. Diagnosis of achondroplasia is made by physical exam and skeletal x-rays. Most individuals have normal intelligence. Infants and children often have motor delays but cognitive delays are not present. A special infant developmental chart has been made for children with achondroplasia. Final adult height is in the range of 4 feet.
