This blog is about our life. I also want to raise awareness about achondroplasia and share our experience. Our baby girl Anaïs was born with achondroplasia.

A Sunday at the park
This afternoon we went to the park. The weather was beautiful and a little breezy so we thought it would be a perfect day to fly kites. Sam has never flown one so she was very excited! It was relaxing to be outside and not be melting in the heat. It was probably around 95F which is so cool for us compared to the five digit temperatures we've been getting. I think Anaïs liked being outside after spending this last week mostly inside. She is doing really good and seems pretty happy. Lately she's been cooing and smiling a lot, she sure is fun to watch!
Gorgeous pics of the girls together! Wow, 95 is cool for you??? Unbelieveable! Seamus adores kite-flying, and it looks like Sam enjoyed her first time out! Anais is so adorable, what a little inspiration she is.
So, two things I noticed in those pictures! First, those two kids are adorable together - Sam really looks like she's as nuts over her sister as Evan is over Caitlin! Second, now I see exactly why CSI is shot in Santa Clarita - there are at least two parks here in town that look almost exactly like that one! LOL
What great pictures! I love the one where the girls are on the blanket and Sam is laughing, covering her mouth. She is such a ham! Anais is really growning, her smile is precious!
The weather looks so nice! I have that same binki for Tes that you have for Anais. Sam looks so cute she is so darling. I'm still LOL about the skirt pics.
I am originally from France and have been living in the US since 1999. My husband Jeff is american and speaks fluent french so we are a bilingual family. We have 2 beautiful daughters Samantha born on 5/27/04 and Anaïs (pronounced Ana-eese) born on 6/6/08. Anaïs was born with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism.
If this is your first time reading our blog, read about how our journey with achondroplasia all started by reading Anaïs' story.
What is achondroplasia?
Achondroplasia is the most common form of short-limb dwarfism. It occurs in approximately 1 in 26,000 to 1 in 40,000 births. The characteristic features of achondroplasia are apparent at birth. These include typical facial features, disproportionate short stature, and rhizomelic (the proximal ends of the limbs) shortening. Diagnosis of achondroplasia is made by physical exam and skeletal x-rays. Most individuals have normal intelligence. Infants and children often have motor delays but cognitive delays are not present. A special infant developmental chart has been made for children with achondroplasia. Final adult height is in the range of 4 feet.
