So I just got off the phone with Dr Walker's office (Anaïs' neurosurgeon) and she needs to have her follow-up appointment and neck X-rays this coming Tuesday. That means we have to leave Monday afternoon after Sam gets out of school. I feel like we BARELY got back, I'm not even caught up with my laundry yet!! Not to mention the 5 hour drive...
Anyway, I had to vent. LOL
I hope everyone out there knows that I am happy to do ANYTHING for Anaïs's health, so I hope I don't come across as being selfish...it's just hard sometimes. I wish we could just forget about all these medical appointments and relax a little. Poor little Anaïs, she has been incredibly brave throughout all this, I am so very proud of her! I know she will grow up to be such a strong and beautiful person.
Ok...I'm done complaining now. LOL

Alex!
I feel your pain. We have to drive to Seattle at least once a month to see different specialist at Children's hospital. It becomes very cumbersome! I try to look it as "this is life" ... and hopefully Caden knows no difference!

Alex, what a hassle to have to drive back and so soon after finally returning home. Caitlyn visits her specialists in Oakland, but that is only an hour and half drive for us and we only have to go once a year. We've been very very fortunate that Caty hasn't had any health issues - KNOCK ON WOOD!! We'll keep Anais in our thoughts that all goes well at the appointment!
I can't imagine how tough this is on you! I would be dreading another big trip like that as well. I hope all goes smoothly with the checkup, and you don't have to go back for a very long time! So glad to hear Anais is doing so well.
Alex, Hopefully this will be it for awhile. Preston went to Hopkins every six months-now we are at once every 18 months, so you will get there and the appointments will be few and far between!
It feels like all of the appointments come all at once sometimes. It will calm down. Parker's first year was much busier with doctor appointments than the past 6 months have been.
I'm sure it is tough having another daughter that this affects too.
Hang in there!

Like everyone else has said, it does get better after the first year. Trace is going to Hopkins every 6 mos and we see his neurosurgeon at Pittsburgh every 3. We just had an MRI on Wednesday and are going to Pittsburgh on the 29th, so hopefully we won't have to go back for a while. Hang in there, it gets better, I promise!
I remember that first year too. It seemed like ALL we did ALL of the time was doctor's appointments. Now, at age 4 Liz is doing so awesome, we have to remind ourselves that we should probably take her to the geneticist once a year. And, the nuero doesn't need to see her again until kindergarten. Hang in there. I know it's SOOO Freaken frustrating.
Hi Alex -- yes, of course, add me to your blog roll. I've added you to mine. :)
I've done the trip from LV to SLC as well and I feel your pain. Not much to see on the way.
Hope all goes well on Tuesday!

Alex,
It is hard and scary, upsetting, terrifying and more, but NO ONE will ever think your being selfish! We are praying for you and your family! Breathe and now, it is all okay!
